So looking at the new amendments S that fail their discipline test to evade don't get the ' sacrificial ' last shot option ? ...and just get run down ?

Before they explode.

My personal favourite S troops?
Etruscans with axes. And no projectile weapons.

Almost perfectly useless while also costing points. 
Now with extra evasion issues. Smile

a way to use your useless S is now to keep them to cover the flank and give a +1 to the main unit and in case charge later. After all S with impetus tend to have suicide tendencies Very Happy

The idea is not to leave them exposed in the open. But then again that's what they were in real life, cannon fodder.
