Skirmishers

One thing I have trouble with is Skirmishers.The rules say that skirmishers evaporate if contacted by an enemy unit.But they have the ability to evade if charged from the front.So which takes precedence?
If the soon to evaporate skirmisher unit is charged does it get a final shot off before it enters the Halls of Valhalla?

They can try to evade with a modified discipline test, see amendments doc 1.7 If they fail to evade or are caught because they do not evade far enough (foot vs cav) they are destroyed immediately. The other option instead of evading is to stand and fire, then be destroyed.
