What makes a warband
Hi,
I've just had a game (Vikings v Norse Irish) which I lost. We both had large groups in our main battle line, When it came to charging in we looked in the rules and found out that only spears, pike and warband get the + bonus for large groups charging. Vikings and Norse Irish are Huscarls and Islemen respectively and not classed as warbands. Neither are Germans, however Gauls are one of the few that are classed as warband.
I can understand Vikings not being classed as warband but Germans? Am I reading the rules (7.3)wrong
Geoff

Re: What makes a warband
Warband isn't really an official Impetus designation but it does find itself into certain conversations and is on the original reference sheet. In Impetus a Warband is equivalent to impetuous FP or FL. So if you look at the German list you'll see there are lots of impetuous FP and FL whereas the Vikings and the Norse Irish have none.

On an open plain, possibly, G.
Think about where they did well and plan your battlefield terrain accordingly.
Something about a bunch of hoods in woods comes to mind.
