World War I
I don't know if this was ever raised on the old forum but I had an idea [ I do tha now and then]. Why not extend Impetus into WWI ?
At first I thought that Impetus wouldn't work on a mechanist war, but then WWI wasn't that mechanised. Armoured cars are just armoured cavalry and what were elephants but ancient tanks? The main charactistic of WWI was that it became stagnated on the Western Front, but there was more to it than that with desert warfare, and even that can be addressed.
I see it working in 20mm best, there are many models and figures already available and many more are to be releasded during the year[ by Airfix]. Everything anybody would want will be available. And all those people who buy all those kits will need a good set of rules to paly them.
So here goes. Light cavalry much as in any other Impetus.
Artillery, needs to be called 'guns' as I think MGs will have to come here. Guns on tanks , armoured cars and on trucks will be quite mobile. [I can at long last use a great model of a Rolls Royce armoured car I've got]. Heavy artillery is surprisingly less effective against dug in troops in trenches than you'd think.
Infantry will still attack in units using bayonets and grenades for an IB before hand to hand contact. They will move the normal type distance in open ground but only about four inches accross barbed wire, ditches, or along a trench &c. Unless working with tanks. They[ tanks] will move say six inches and infantry with them will move at the same rate. I suggest two tank models to a 12cm base. Infantry bases behind but in contact to show they are together. Tanks also have an IB. Tanks however are very vulnerable to close infantry attack especially in a BUA.
''Gas, gas, quick lads '' - no idea for gas attackes yet.
Now I need someone with a much greater knowledge of WWI than I.
Does anyone want to pick up this ball and run with it ?

Any ideas can be shared in this post!

Re: World War I
Great, I'll give it more thought and research.
Smaller tanks such as the Renault FT17 and TSF should be more like armoured cars.
Two heavy tanks probably won't fit on a 12cm base but two light ones will.
Most cavalry, including German Cuirassiers [ who didn't have a cuirrass] will be the same except the German Ulhans who will have a lower VBU but a higher Impetus bonus.

Re: World War I
Heavy tank can be one for base.
Note thatit will be a grand tactical set.

Re: World War I
Aircraft.
Don't forget aircraft (example) Battle of Hamel, and also offshore naval bombardment (example Dardanelles).
Mustard and chlorine gas attacks can be represented in different ways, as can heavy indirect pre-timed (plus and minus variation) for heavy artillery area or linear bombardment.
