Re: Multiple units in melee
After A charge the melee is re-evaluated and you have 2 melee situations. One is B vs 3, the other is A vs 2 supported by 1. B vs 3 has already been done.
So, no to your question.

Re: Multiple units in melee
Also note that if a Main unit is fighting in melee it cannot be Support or Main unit in another melee.

Re: Multiple units in melee
Jon, this is correct but with the clarification "at the same time" which could also mean "in the same melee phase".
In my example we have multiple melee in more than one phase (7.6.7) The unit labelled A is the new unit. It contacts unit 2 which was one of the fighting units with unit 3 against unit B. The resultant decision on melee combats now has B vs 3, but as you say, and quoting from the rules "if you are fighting as the Main Unit you cannot also be ... Main Unit in another melee." The implication is that it means melee phase.
Now, and I'm ignoring pursuits, if it had been unit 2 that had charged into contact with unit B (which had first been charged by unit 3 but without effect), my understanding is that this would reactivate the B vs 3 combat and 2 would be a supporting unit. Even though B and 3 had already both fought each other as mains.

That's also my understanding.

Since the melee is restarting with '2' moving into contact, the active player could select either '2' or '3' as Main against 'B', right?

Re: Multiple units in melee
This issue has also been raised on the Facebook Impetus group. I've had this post on the forum pointed out that seems to conflict the advice from jorneto: https://impetus.darkbb.com/t1003-main-unit-and-support-unit-in-second-combat#8239

I'm not seeing it! Can you explain?

Re: Multiple units in melee
Precisely. I don't see any rule conflict.
B can give support to A, except if Y stayed in place.

Re: Multiple units in melee
I think I get it. Have more games coming up so I will be able to check my understanding then.
