Moving to Amazon
I am working in these days to move the books in Amazon. They will remeain available from dadiepiombo.com website as ususla and from our stockists but Amazon will be one more sale channel.
Most of the work is on the layout as Amazon has not the A4 format. So the books will be on a 8x10" trim. And no spiral bound (paperback). They will be a little cheaper btw. And I suppose must faster to receive.
The choice is linked to the pandemical situation. I live in a country where from one day to another the Prime Minister can call the general lockdown and this should not stop the impetus.
Also shipping outside EU has become a nightmare as you have to fill customs forms and other stuff for each single order. Nothiing tragic, but better to open new channels.

Re: Moving to Amazon
That makes a deal of sense and although from a practical point of view it will be a shame to lose the spiral bound nature of the books I suspect that bound paperbacks will be more popular.
Re: Moving to Amazon
Pity about the spiral binding, but I suppose it makes sense for ease of distribution.

OK well that sounds good but I'm surprised it's economically viable to have two different bindings.
I do agre ethat Amazon will give you much greater (and easier) reach, at a cost. On balance I think it's a good thing.

Re: Moving to Amazon
an update. Amazon is driving me crazy because the title is Impetus but is written Impetvs.

Re: Moving to Amazon
Bite the bullet and accept the spelling with a u - most people search for it spelt that way in any case
Re: Moving to Amazon
yes, I wanted the spelling with the U in the text. Do you mean to change the "logo" in the cover. Would not look as an fake version?

Re: Moving to Amazon
No, keep the cover - that's an image anyway. Why would Amazon have an issue with that?
Re: Moving to Amazon
Leave it as "u" ... the "v" can be put down to 'artistic license' surely ? Get with the program amazon !! ....what ?? is this the first time this has happened ?? Of course not.

Re: Moving to Amazon
I was assuming that the problem was that the title was 'v' and Amazon wanted the 'correct' spelling - if the problem is that the interior spelling differs from the title surely that's a non-problem?
Leave the image of the cover as it s with a 'v' and change all actual text to a 'u', including the name of the product in Amazon's database - I don't see what the problem is, maybe we're missing something?

Re: Moving to Amazon
As Tarty suggests, Amazon may actually be doing Lorenzo a favour considering how one actually searches for product. So I would type in Impetus if I needed something for the rules even though the branding is Impetvs.

Re: Moving to Amazon
no way, the last issue was that I had to place my name in the cover. At the moment I am waiting the last feedback after this (i hope) last change.
I think we are closing to the realease but it has been a really time spending experience.

Re: Moving to Amazon
Sounds all very strange, anyway hope that's it done - I still think it's a good move though.
Re: Moving to Amazon
ok, Mr Bezos approved.
Now I wait to see the book (Basic) on the "shelf" and order a copy to see how in looks in flesh.
In the meanwhile I complete the amazon layout for Impetus.

Re: Moving to Amazon
I agree some promotion might be needed.
I remember seeing a fair number of reviews for BI2 compared to a couple for I2 (I suspect there are impetus players that don't know about I2).
For the warbook I saw only one generic review in Wargames Illustrated.

Re: Moving to Amazon
What sort of promotion would you like? Years ago did a series of battles from wars of Roses for publication in war games illustrated when Duncan ran it. They included photos army lists etc and and any adjustments to DBM rules to help bring out characteristics of each battle. In our group we have some gifted painters so photos would like good for the magazine could do same again for say Marathon, platea etc and hopefully get 3 or 4 battles in magazine designed to promote impetus. Is this the sort of thing you mean? We in lock down at moment so could take 2/3 months to get first one ready.
If Society of Ancients battle Day next May happens could promote rules there and do articles for slingshot the society's mag. we really enjoy the rules so wouldn't be a chore it would be a pleasure but be better to know what you want first. regards Eric
