Salvo and opportunity or defensive fire interaction.

So, from what I read in the rules, troops who can salvo can move and fire in the same activation--So I'm thinking it will work like this:

Activated unit moves. (say into point blank range)
Activated unit fires 'salvo'
Activated unit moves again (charges) has to check discipline for disorder, and contacts for melee.

So, assuming I got the sequence for moving and firing a salvo correct, for the unit being charged in this case, it looks like it could opportunity fire when it get fired at by the salvo, OR, it can eat that and then defensive fire when the salvoing unit charges home to try and stop the charge (or just cause damage).

Am I reading that correctly?

Salvo allows Foot to fire and charge which otherwise is expressly prohibited by 6.1.6

This is not the same as allowing them to move, fire, charge. Normally in Impetus you can either move-fire, or fire-move. However Baroque does allow CL, SP, RE and S to move-shoot-move.

So unless you can find some weird S Salvo troops then I don't believe you will be able to move-salvo-charge. I can't believe we'll ever see Salvo capable Horse!

Otherwise, yes a unit could attempt to opportunity fire, or opportunity charge when you Salvo. the chances for doing so are not good. Or they can wait and conduct defensive fire or counter-charge when/if you charge - much better chances of doing this. Of course you may not charge and they may be disordered or worse by then - decisions, decisions
