Infantry charging mounted - disorder

When infantry charge mounted when does the automatic disorder take effect? Essentially can Romans throw a single Pilum as they charge or does the disorder take effect before contact and so negate this?

Automatic disorder? Not aware of any automatic disorder. Foot cannot counter-charge mounted in reaction, but if mounted are standing within charge reach, foot can charge (no impetus bonus). Obviously if they are using the charge movement bonus to reach their target and they fall short, then they will become disordered. Likewise if they are making a double move to reach then a discipline test will be required at the end, and so may become disordered.
