Measurement Question In Basic Impetus 2.0 Empty Measurement Question In Basic Impetus 2.0

Post by Zombiefy Thu May 16, 2019 3:44 pm

Forgive my beginner questions, I am new to tabletop wargaming.

My question is with the following rule in Basic Impetus 2.0:

"1.4 MEASUREMENT
Basic Impetus adopts as Unit of measure the Half Base Width,
also called “H”. This allows you to use figures based for any system,
keeping the same ratio when you play games in different scale."

I am using 15mm miniatures. As I understand it, you take the frontage width of the base you are using, and half it. That is what your units of movement is. I made my base according to to the chart on the same page. For 15mm, my bases are 8cm's wide, so that would indicate my movements would be in increments of 4cm's. Example: My Medium Cavalry have a movement rate of 3H, so when I choose to move them to their maximum distance, I move them 12cm's. Is this correct?

Also, the rule posted above seems oddly worded. Just my opinion.

Thanks in advance!

You are on the wrong Forum Zombiefy. But thankfully the principle is the same in Impetus and Basic Impetus. So yes, your CM move 3H or 12 cm in 15mm.

Measurement Question In Basic Impetus 2.0 Empty Re: Measurement Question In Basic Impetus 2.0

Welcome, Zombiefy. If you are new to tabletop wargaming, Basic Impetus 2.0 is a very good place to start.

You have understood rule 1.4 correctly, as Gaius Cassius said. I'm not sure why you found the rule oddly worded. It may be worth remembering that Basic Impetus 2.0, and the other Impetus rules, are translated from Italian.

You may not have seen that this Impetus forum has a 'Basic Impetus' section. It is probably worth you posting your questions there, to avoid confusion with questions about the second edition of 'full' Impetus, which is referred to on the forum as Impetus 2. It may also be worth looking in the Basic Impetus section to see if your question has already been discussed.

Enjoy your games.
