In the list there is a unit of fusiliers. What is the origin of this unit - is it like combined grenadiers? Would there have been a mixture of uniforms within the unit?

in 1688 some regiments of fusiliers have been raised.
I have seen you have opened a new post on the Royal, and yes this Unit can represent those guys

Do you know where I can find out about these fusilier regiments. I have the Hall CD/pdf on the Dutch army and there are no details about them.

I also can't find anything on the Fusiliers du Roi. Any help appreciated Smile

After a few games using "bayonet" troops

- why bother !

since they are SM-1, the same as normal P&M, and minimal cost difference I am not sure there is any reason to take them.

They get no movement advantage (maybe they should be 1F), no shooting bonus and no combat bonus.
